This article will focus on the Trideer Pilates Ball in particular, and show just a few of the ways you can use it as a tool to promote health and well being. Read on to learn more!
Help with Low Back or Hip Pain
The two exercises featured in the image above use the Trideer Pilates Ball to help to stabilize the hips and increase overall postural stability. The first exercise consists of lying in a hook lying position with a posterior pelvic tilt (low back against table). Squeeze ball a few times in a row and then relax. The second exercise is for those with decreased pain as it is more challenging. This exercise consists of beginning in a posterior pelvic tilt and then lifting into a bridge. Then squeeze the ball a few times before resetting.
Strengthening Neck Muscles
Strengthening neck muscles will contribute to overall functional strength. Some benefits include: improved posture due to increasing symmetry in muscle strength throughout the neck; protection against injury as it has been shown that serious concussions can be prevented with a stronger neck; and improved sports performance through increased breathing quality as well as increased static and dynamic balance. By incorporating the exercises featured in the image above, you can increase neck muscles’ endurance and strength. To Complete:
- Extend neck through a chin tuck and hold this position against the ball for 30 seconds.
- Apply pressure through your forehead into the ball and hold this position against the ball for 30 seconds.
- Challenge your lateral flexion and neck rotator muscles through placing the ball on either side of your head and hold this position against the ball for 30 seconds.
